Link bitbucket server with JIRA software cloud

Kamil Stepien January 23, 2019

We as a company use JIRA cloud to raise issues. I would like to use BitBucket server to store the source code. I looked for documentation on how to link those two apps but I'm unable to find any detailed instructions. I downloaded and installed BitBucket server with I believe the default configurations.

My bitbucket server sits on http://localhost:7990

The SSH port is 7999

The connection from bitbucket server seems to work but in JIRA cloud I get network error:  403: Forbidden

I'm not an expert in server configurations, therefore, I'm not sure how to set this up in order to get them both communicating with each other, can someone guide me on this?

Hi Kamil!

To connect Bitbucket Server and Jira Cloud, Bitbucket Server must be accessible via either port 80 or 443, and Bitbucket Server needs to be reachable by the JIRA Software Cloud IP range (you can refer to Database and IP information for details on the IP range used by JIRA Software Cloud).

You also need to make sure that you have administrator permissions on both Bitbucket Server and JIRA Software Cloud.

You can find all the requirements at Connect Bitbucket Server to Jira Cloud. The rest of the instructions can also be found there.

Sa you said you're not an expert on server configurations, is there a reason why you decided to use Bitbucket Server instead of Bitbucket Cloud?

Let us know!

Hi Ana,

Thank you for the links. I've seen those configurations but I still had issues I think it is due to our firewall. I think it would be beneficial to add more detailed instructions in configuring bitbucket server with JIRA cloud. I'm experimenting with both to check which one would be more sensible for our environment. We never stored our source code in the cloud that's why I'm taking extra.

Regards,

Kamil
