Jira Cloud data store location?

We are considering Jira software in the cloud.
Is the data stored in America?
Is it possible to demand that the data be stored only in the Netherlands/European Union?

While Atlassian has some of it's hosting infrastructure in the EU, you can as of today not decide where exactly your data is stored (possible are US, Australia and Ireland).

Thank you for your quick answer and additional information.

We are not happy that our data can be stored in America. The reason is that US legislation provides insufficient privacy protection. Is it possible to enforce data storage in Ireland?
