I'm not receiving verification emails from Atlassian

I have a new user that will be read only that I am trying to set up on bitbucket, and I am not receiving the verification email.

I found that if I added a longer email address it would work. for instance I was adding ro@XXXXXXX.com it wouldn't send me the email. . .but readonly@XXXXXXX.com works.
