I'd like to import from my SVN repository into BitBucket (Git). Is there a way to keep the SVN history?

We have seven years of critical research data in the SVN check-in comments. We'd like to migrate from our SVN repository to BitBucket, but need to retain the SVN history. How do I properly migrate this data?
