How to trigger garbage collection (GC) for Bitbucket repository after removing large files from Git

Hello @Theodora Boudale ,

I have cleaned up the Git history of my private repository chainlync-ios-app by removing large unnecessary files and rewriting the history.

After cleanup:

Local repository size has reduced significantly.

Large unused files have been removed from Git history.

Cleaned history has been force pushed successfully.

However, the repository size on Bitbucket is still showing 667.1 MB even after the cleanup.

Could you please trigger garbage collection (GC) for the repository to remove unreachable Git objects and reclaim the storage space?

Repository name: chainlync-ios-app

The last two letters of the workspace ID are: nc

Please let me know once the garbage collection process is completed or if any additional information is required from my side.

Hi  

There are automated gc processes that run in the backend, but only once a certain threshhold is met. It appears your workspace did not meet this threshhold yet.

I've executed a gc in the backend manually - which reduced the size down from 667.1MB > 26.8MB
