How do I install Stash as a Windows Service after upgrading an existing instance?

I followed the instructions at

but service.bat tells me that my jre path needs to point to a jdk path.

My existing local services entry is rather old and does not seem to work.

Hi Bastian,

Could you please share the exact commands being run and the error you get?

I'd like to point out that the newest Stash installer will perform the Windows Service installation automatically for you. You can follow the guidelines on the Stash upgrade guide.

I'd encourage you to use the installer for this purpose.

Can you please also do an "echo of %JAVA_HOME%" and an "echo %JRE_HOME%"? Botom line: If you defined something on JAVA_HOME that _must_ point to a JDK. If you defined something on JRE_HOME it must point to a JRE.
