https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucketserver/bitbucket-server-upgrade-guide-776640551.html is a good start, and since you're going to 4.x to 6.x pay attention to the upgrade path as you may need to do some incremental upgrades (4.x to 5.x, then 5.x to 6.x).
