Gatekeeper strategy restrict access to master

Hi - I've been following the documentation to set up the Gatekeeper strategy in Bamboo; how do I restrict the branch in Stash to only allow merge/push from the Bamboo server?

I guess Bamboo merges as a specific user (repository settings / shared credentials)? Can't you not simply setup branch permissions only for this user?

Bamboo merges as the original branch commiter, so no.
