File permissions changed after deployment via AWS code deploy

I have set up pipelines and deployment from bitbucket via AWS Codedeploy to my servers.
whenever my deployment is done, the permission of the folders is changed to root. why this is happening I have no idea. I read some articles that define the permission in the appspec.yml file but I have not defined any.
