Driving Stash Projects from a Template Setting

Rahul Mishra
March 9, 2015

Hi,

I am looking at a set up where i will need to create a few hundred git projects in Stash.

Is it possible to drive the projects off certain template settings? For example, in every project i want to disallow checkins into the master branch, configure certain post receive hooks, etc.

I want this to be automatically done (inherited) when i create a new project. For now, i think i may be able to achieve this by scripting around the back end configuration.

But is that advisable? I'd really like to avoid making routine changes manually to each and every project

Thoughts/Pointers?

Native STASH does not support this directly (via GUI) - unless it's a long outstanding feature request. ( see for exampe https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/12259652 or https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/9876932). We use the STASH-API to ensure several settings of a repository ...

There's also a commercial plugin availble which supports repository templates within stash.
