Disabling Bitbucket Active Directory without locking myself out due to license restriction

erikvdibble June 4, 2019

Hello Atlassian,

I am working on a bunch of hooks but have an issue:

I have Active Directory enabled in our Bitbucket instance and I am logged in with my AD user credentials.

I would like to disable AD from Bitbucket.

However, I am prevented from adding a non AD (local) user to circumvent lockout due to :

" You have reached your license limit of 10 users. To add more users, restrict your existing licensed users or upgrade your license. "

How can I disable AD in Bitbucket without locking myself out and upgrading the license ?

Hello Erik and welcome to the Community!

If you’re wanting to create a new local account but have hit your current user limit then you have a few options available to you. Here are some of the options you could try:

  • Disable or remove another user to free up a license for you to use within the local directory. This is by far the easiest method to accomplish this.
  • Use your staging instance to test/develop you webhooks against. This would allow you to have a separate instance (same user license count), but you can remove users without impacting production.

These options should allow you to accomplish your goal of creating a user while working within your current license allotment. If you run into any issues while proceeding, please let us know.
