Connection refused after setting up new git repo and then loggin in on a different machine

I created a git repo and cloned on my desktop ... (I also created ssh keys for it -- that may have been a mistake) But when I try to clone from another machine -- instead of an ssh key error or something like it, I get Connection refused ... whats going on?

I guess that is the behavior if one attempts to clone a repo when running under XP
