We use the Jira - Bitbucket integration (both server version). We wonder if it would be possible to link the Jira instance to multiple Bitbucket server instances. Preferably we would like to choose the Bitbucket server instance on Jira project level?
Has anyone already tried this?
This is what I have found during my own experiments.
It is possible to link multiple Bitbucket server instances with one Jira instance using application links. In this case all Bitbucket servers are shown in the development tools section of a Jira project.
When creating a new branch from the Jira issue, the user can select which Bitbucket server should be used. Unfortunately this happens each and every time in every project. Jira does not remember the choice and it is not possible define a specific relation between a Jira project and one the Bitbucket instance. Therefore this becomes very annoying very soon.
It tested this with Jira 8.2.3 and Bitbuchet 6.5.1
I know that you can link a Bitbucket instance to multiple Jira instance, so I'd expect that it is also possible in the reverse direction.
I checked out and the doc says (so this is definitely possible, and there is ordering between the linked Jira's!):
If Bitbucket Server is linked with multiple Jira Software instances and the projects happen to have the same key, only the issue from the instance marked as PRIMARY will be displayed.
