I recently was trying to push some deltas with SourceTree and noticed I could not figure out the password.
Long story short, Bitbucket account was made a long time ago with an undeliverable email address. A long time ago (10+ years) I signed up for outlook and google using a ymail address. Sometime a while ago this ymail address became invalid, but is now the username for both my microsoft and outlook products. Outlook considered my ymail address an alias, but can't deliver the email to the ymail address (should deliver to my inbox).
Recently deleted stored passwords in chrome to bit bucket account.
Of course you may find it strange that I am able to post this question from the account. This is because I can sign in using Google. Unfortunately, Google sign-on doesn't constitute a password so I am unable to change it from the account settings page. Since the email associated with this account is undeliverable I cannot change my password with the email flow.
I am stuck being unable to push to remote b/c of a forgotten password, but able to sign on to my bitbucket account with google. I have no way of reset-ing my password with the current conditions.
Also no https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Bitbucket-questions/How-to-change-bitbucket-password/qaq-p/655536 does not help me.
Hi @Bennett ,
For purposes of cloning/pulling/pushing to a remote, you can generate an app-password for your account and use that instead of a password. You can see here details on how to generate an app-password:
If you're using SourceTree or another Git client, I would suggest to first remove any stored credentials that may be incorrect.
Considering that mail cannot be delivered to the email of this account, my suggestion would be to change it to another email of yours that works.
If you try to change it from Bitbucket/Atlassian website, you will still be asked for a password to make this change.
We can do something else though to achieve the email change:
Afterwards, post here to let me know, and I can switch the primary email of your Bitbucket account to this second email from our side. When I do this, then the password of your Bitbucket account will be the password of the Atlassian account you set at step #1.
Please feel free to let me know how this sounds, if you'd like us to proceed with this plan and if you have any questions.
Kind regards,
Theodora
I have completed steps 1-5. I was able to successfully login to the Atlassian account with the new email and have added the email as alias to my bitbucket account. Awaiting your intervention on the back-end.
Thanks for your help.

Hi @Bennett ,
Thanks for your reply and you're very welcome!
I can see the completion of steps 1-5, so I went ahead and linked your Bitbucket account with the new Atlassian account you created with the second email.
From now on, you should be able to log in to https://bitbucket.org/ with this email and the respective Atlassian account password.
You can use the same (Atlassian account) password for cloning/pulling/pushing via HTTPS, or you can also use an app-password, if you generated one already after my last message.
Just a note that login to Bitbucket website is possible only with an account's primary email, so Google login with the ymail address won't be possible. The ymail address is now an Email alias to your account and as such it can be used for Git aliasing (if you have any commits in Bitbucket repos with author the ymail address, they will be mapped to your Bitbucket user).
Please feel free to let me know if things are ok from your side now and if you have any questions.
Kind regards,
Theodora
