In Bitbucket, you can only add one device as an authenticator. If you change phones, you'll need to disable the old device before you add the new one. If you forgot to do that, you'll have to disable Two-step verification from your Bitbucket account, and then re-enable it using your new phone. For more info you can read Enable two-step verification.

If you don't have your old phone anymore, you'll need to use the alternative method. If you have access to your SSH key, use the following to receive a recovery code:

ssh git@bitbucket.org recovery_codes

This will bring out 6 recovery codes (one time use only) that you can use to get into your Bitbucket account, disable two-step verification and go one with the steps to enable your new phone. This is explained at Retrieve recovery codes through SSH.

I got a new phone a month ago and haven't had the need to use two step verification since then (so I haen't set it up yet). This morning I lost my computer and there went my ssh keys (so ssh recovery_codes doesn't work).

How do I gain access to my repos now?

Hi Janne,

There's the option to recover access to your account if your Bitbucket account is managed, however I believe in your case it's not, can you confirm that? You can read more about it at Managed accounts FAQ.

If your account is not managed, and you don't have access to your old phone, or computer, and didn't save the recovery codes as we recommend, I'm afraid you've run out of options. You'll need to create a new Bitbucket account and upload your repositories again.

Let us know if you need further assistance!

Kind regards,

Ana
