Can a ticket status update upon release rather than commit via bitbucket?

I am looking to update the status of a ticket in jira. In a similar way that commit messages can update ticket status. Instead of triggering this on commit, I would like these to update the status depending on if the code has been released onto our testing environment.

I'm afraid that won't be possible as that action is not listed as one of the triggers:

It might be possible by using the REST API or maybe a third-party add-on, but I'm not familiar with that so I won't be able to tell for sure. For more information about the API, you can check:
