My current Android studio project is currently not working to properly and I'm thinking about starting again, but I wish to keep the same repository. Is this possible or do I have to create a new repository?

So to be clear, you basically want to clear out the contents of your repository so you can start fresh. I assume you want to avoid the hassle of configuring a new bitbucket repo, or you really like the repository name/url you've already claimed, right?
