I start my bitbucket server using sudo -u bitbucket /var/atlassian-bitbucket-4.9.1/bin/start-webapp.sh the server temporarily starts i.e. I can see port 7990 being listened on when i run netstat, but then in the next few seconds it stops.
The best option at this point is to review the bitbucket log file to see what error caused the process to stop or crash. Feel free to post here and we can help analyze what's happening if it's not obvious from the log messages.
