Bitbucket Reuse Username

I have a bitbucket account that I use personally and I'd like to use the same username for a new company I'm starting up (start-up company has a different workspace)

When I try, it says "Username already exists"

How would I be do this ?

Welcome to the community!!

For getting access to workspace, workspace name should be different from one the account name which you have right now, but as administrator or user you can get the access to workspace

In case if you need to give same name for your workspace as you account username, this cannot be achieved as bitbucket only allows unique username.

What you can do is change the username of personal account and you will have option to set the name for your workspace which was used for personal account

Do usernames need to be unique across all bitbucket globally ? 

I'm happy to use a different workspace name, but I'd like to use the same username for both accounts

Yes it should be unique!
