Hi Bitbucket Community,
We want to let you know about an upcoming change that could affect how you use Forge apps with your Bitbucket workspaces.
What’s changing?
Starting March 16, 2026, Bitbucket workspaces will need to be linked to an Atlassian organization to continue using Forge apps. This update helps us meet enterprise and regulatory requirements, and it also sets the stage for new features like cross-product apps and data residency.
Linking your workspace is a straightforward process, and once it’s done, you’ll keep access to your Forge apps.
What does this mean for you?
If your workspace isn’t linked to an Atlassian organization, Forge apps will stop working for you after the change goes live.
Any existing Forge app installations in unlinked workspaces will be removed, and you won’t be able to install new ones.
What should you do?
Make sure your Bitbucket workspace is linked to your company’s Atlassian organization before March 16, 2026.
If you need help linking your workspace, Bitbucket Cloud support | Bitbucket Cloud | Atlassian Support is here to assist.
For step-by-step instructions and more details about this change, check out our community post: Calling on all workspace Admins - Connect your Bitbucket workspace to an Atlassian organization.
If you’re unable to link your workspace but want to keep your app data, reach out to Developer and marketplace support.
We know changes like this can be a hassle, but we’re here to help make the transition as smooth as possible. If you have any questions or run into any issues, just comment below or contact support.
Thanks for being part of the Bitbucket community!
