If I integrate my Bamboo instance with STASH via application links, do I still need to setup/exchange ssh keys for each of my Projects and/or repos in STASH with Bamboo?

No. If you Application Link between Bamboo and Stash, Bamboo will automatically create the keys needed for the Bamboo plan to talk to the Stash repo

Requirement then is to use "Stash" repository type and not plain "Git"
