Hi team,

I'm working with Confluence Cloud Automation, and I'm running into an issue when trying to move a page and its children based on a label.

Here’s what I’ve set up:

  1. I manually add a label (e.g., move-to-archive) to a parent page.

  2. Automation adds the same label to all child pages (this part works fine).

  3. Automation rule attempts to move the parent and its children to a new parent page in another space.

Problem:
Only the child pages are being moved, while the original parent page stays where it is. I expected that moving the parent would automatically move the children with it, but this isn’t happening in my setup.

Hi, @Laura Chavez! 👋

From what you described, it sounds like the automation is executing the "Move page" action individually for each page with the label. Unfortunately, when you move a child page directly, it doesn’t preserve the original hierarchy if the parent page itself isn’t moved as part of the same action.

To move both the parent and children together:

  • Try triggering the move only on the parent page, and not labeling or moving the children separately.

  • In the "Move page" action, choose the parent page, and it should carry its children along with it automatically.

If you apply the label only to the parent and set your rule to act only on that label, you may get the behavior you want.

Let me know if that helps! 😊
