An improved audit log experience for Jira and JSM!!

πŸ‘‹ Hey Community! Elana here from the Audit Log team with an update for Jira and Jira Service Management (JSM) admins.

We're improving the audit log experience in Jira and JSM by bringing product-specific audit activity into the app for a more consistent admin experience.

This is a step toward a more unified audit log platform across Atlassian. One that gives admins clearer visibility into product activity, supports role-based access, and reduces the need to move between separate audit log experiences.

What’s new

With this release, eligible admins will see a more consistent audit log experience directly in Jira and JSM, with expanded coverage for product activity including:

  • Issue changes in Jira

  • App and integration activity

  • Agent, customer, and user access changes

  • Service project configuration changes

  • Automation rule activity

  • Customer portal and request activity

We also have a refreshed UI where we are introducing new features including:

  • A side panel view, to get a detailed look of a specific event from either of two different views:

    • A split Details section

    • A JSON tab for you to copy over

  • An actor refresh whether system or actual actor

  • Ability to filter by IP address, location, and ALQL.

Event availability may vary by product, edition, and rollout phase.

Old View

The previous Jira and JSM audit log page did not have structured filters, advanced query logic, or detailed views of specific logs.

New View

The image above shows basic mode with various filters to find the logs you need faster.

The image above highlights ALQL Mode, which allows you to create more complex queries.

The image above displays the new side panel view that allows you to see additional log details.

Admins will also be able to:

  • Troubleshoot with more context: Track down what changed before an issue started, without jumping between places.

  • See logs relevant to their role: Organization admins, site admins, and unit admins each see only the logs they have access to.

When will these changes be released?

This improved Audit log experience for Jira and JSM will begin rolling out on August 19, 2026 for existing Audit log users. Only the UI will be altered. The existing API will remain unchanged.

Thanks @Elana Agarwal and Atlassian!

Looking forward to these changes. More details and further improvements to audit logging is always great, esp for admins trying to troubleshoot things. We needed this many years ago when the number of admins were out of control :)

I unfortunately cannot see the Loom:
