Any plans for an official "Jira Admin" MCP Server?

Hi all,

The current Rovo/Remote MCP Server is great for searching and editing issues and Confluence content, but it doesn't expose any Jira administration capabilities — things like creating/editing workflows and workflow schemes, defining custom fields and field configurations, permission schemes, screens, or issue-type schemes.

I've found a couple of community-built projects that attempt to fill this gap (e.g. jira-admin-mcp and forks of mcp-atlassian with admin/analyst tool sets on GitHub), but nothing official from Atlassian.

Is Atlassian planning to release an official MCP server (or extend the existing Rovo MCP Server) to support Jira admin-level configuration? Even read-only "inspect my workflow/scheme setup" tools would be a big help for auditing, let alone write access for things like managing custom fields or workflow transitions via AI assistants.

Would appreciate any insight into the roadmap, or confirmation that this is intentionally out of scope for security/governance reasons.

Hi @József Porohnavec  - thanks for the detailed write-up.

Yes, Jira Admin capabilities are on our roadmap. We're planning to release a set of Jira Admin-specific tools, and we expect them to be available around September. Early candidates include tools for Workflows, Screens, and Project CRUD, along with read access to project components, templates, and priorities.

This isn't the final list - we'll share a more accurate scope closer to the timeline, likely by the end of the month.
