Is there a method of migrating projects – WITHOUT – migrating user accounts?

Hi there,

During testing we successfully migrated all Jira Server user accounts to cloud as a Migration Plan (no projects included).

Naively, based on this paragraph, we thought this would save time when performing Jira project migrations.

Optimizing user migration for reduced downtime

If you migrate your users before your project data, you will save time on migration day. This is because the Migration Assistant will not need to re-migrate those users.

The Migration Assistant does not provide an option to exclude Users & Groups from a Migration Plan.

The Select button is mandatory here, and available options result in lengthy pre-flight checks and inclusion of user accounts in the migration. We'd like to achieve the inferred setting at the point of the red arrow in this screenshot.

Yes, the option can't not be selected. However, if you've pre-migrated all the users and groups, what will happen this time is only the new users and changes will be uploaded.

Thanks for your response, we actually don't want to migrate users, just projects. The user migration step is extremely time consuming and prone to failures. The Migration Assistant is heavily blinkered and falls in a heap at anything outside its limited view of reality. The project migration step is straightforward and reasonably fast moving.

We have a number of user account edge cases that just don't fit the Atlassian model of a quintessential user account. I've managed to nut these out and have the required user accounts loaded on cloud. Migrating, or attempting to migrate, user accounts with each test iteration of projects is really frustrating.
