I’ve been thinking about an idea that could bring even more value to the Atlassian Community.
What if we hosted a monthly global virtual community event where Atlassian users, admins, developers, partners, and Community Leaders from around the world could come together to collaborate, learn, and share ideas?
Imagine the possibilities:
Each country and region brings unique experiences and perspectives. A global forum like this could help us learn from one another while strengthening collaboration across the worldwide Atlassian Community.
I’d love to see a monthly event where anyone, regardless of location, could join, contribute, and exchange ideas. I’d even be excited to help host or organize sessions if there’s enough interest.
What do you think?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and seeing if this is something we could build together!
😂 I’ll make sure the agenda is better organized than the popcorn queue! I was thinking of a format with a host, guest speakers, lightning talks, and breakout discussions so everyone gets a chance to contribute without it turning into chaos.
That sounds like a good idea, i would enjoy seeing showcases were people present problems and how they solved them
That was my actual intentions behind collab with global teams to know how differently they do work or resolve real world problems!
Hope the language barrier can be taken care by some translator tools, and it’s good to learn some new words from different languages and culture!
we can start this and see the response how it goes!
I hope it really helps for Atlassian engineers to learn from around globe which is currently scoped and limited to local groups or local at country level!
I would be interested but I do agree the different time zones might be tricky
I often think that a problem with our standard ACEvents is that the people who aren't presenting only get to type their comments and questions in the chat. Sometimes I miss what the presenter is saying while I'm typing. It would be nice to be able to speak with people directly.
HOWEVER, this could be chaos, as @Jason Krewson mentioned. A raise your hand and have someone grant you access to talk system would cause a lot of delays.
Besides the time zone issues, what platform do you use that could support a potentially huge group of people.
I think there would need to be a published agenda/general topic for the week so that people can know whether the discussion will be relevant to them.
I agree with your thoughts, @Barbara Szczesniak. Idea itself is good but definitely needs some thinking through & planning. Perhaps sessions divided timezone-wise could help? 💙
