Will Atlassian analytics get faster

When creating a dashboard in Atlassian analytics, I have controls (dropdowns and date controls) to filter on for my jira data. But the response rate is quite slow. Is there any work been done to increase the response time. PowerBI that is using the same data is much faster in returning a  response

Hello Tracey,

We are actively investing in making Atlassian Analytics faster. Performance is a key focus area for the team:

  • We’re currently optimizing queries and caching for existing dashboards, with monitoring in place to understand where customers see the biggest delays.

  • We’re also working on a new, more performant data infrastructure that’s targeted for the first half of calendar year 2026 to significantly improve query performance, especially for larger/complex dashboards.

In the meantime, there are a few changes you can make today that often improve response times when using dropdown and date controls:

  • Increase dashboard cache duration so repeated views and similar filters load faster.

  • Set dashboard refresh to “Manually” or “When dashboard is first opened” instead of automatically refreshing on every control change.

  • Turn off “Automatically update dashboard when a variable changes”, so filters don’t re‑query the entire dashboard on every small change.

  • Simplify heavy dashboards by reducing the number of charts per page and avoiding overly complex SQL/joins where possible.

Power BI may feel faster in your environment because it’s often querying imported, cached data in a dedicated workspace, whereas Atlassian Analytics is running live queries across the Atlassian Data Lake with additional multi-tenant and governance layers. The infrastructure work we have underway is specifically aimed at closing that gap for interactive dashboard scenarios like yours.

Mohsin
