Hey all!

I recently ran a session called "Find and use AI agents with Rovo" and got some great questions. I've pulled them out and am sharing them, and the answers below, in case folks find them useful.

Question 1 - "How to use Rovo agent to develop a simple project related change management workflow? Not for the whole organization, just for my department's projects."

• Answer: You can build a department-specific change management workflow using a combination of a custom Rovo Agent and Jira Automation (depending on specific needs).

  1. Define a Focused Custom Agent: Go to Rovo Chat or Studio and select Create agent. Optionally set the agent’s scope/knowledge source exclusively to your department’s specific Jira or Confluence Space. In the Instructions field, define your department's change management criteria (e.g., risk assessment rules, required approval checklists, and impact analysis format).

     1. Note: the more time you invest in good instructions, the better you agent will be!

  2. Integrate with Automation: Create a Jira Automation rule triggered when a Change Request ticket is created or updated in your project. Use the Use Rovo / Invoke Rovo Agent action to pass the ticket's description to your agent.

  3. Apply the Output: Capture the AI's response using the {{agentResponse}} smart value to automatically comment risk assessments on the ticket, assign required reviewers, or update custom fields (e.g., Risk Level) before advancing the workflow.

Question 2 - "Can you attach agents to pages in Confluence?"

• Answer: In Atlassian Rovo, you do not directly "attach" or assign an agent as an owner/field to a static Confluence page in the way you can assign a Rovo agent to a Jira work item. However, you can use Rovo Agents on Confluence pages in three ways:

  1. Inline / Editor Toolbar (/ai): While editing or viewing a Confluence page, highlight text or type /ai to call any saved/starred Rovo agent to analyze, summarize, or edit the page content directly.

  2. Rovo Chat Context: Open the Rovo Chat panel while viewing a Confluence page. Rovo automatically detects the active page context, allowing your selected agent to execute instructions against that page's text.

  3. Confluence Automation Rules: Set up Confluence Automation triggers (e.g., "When page is created" or "Scheduled monthly audit") that call a Rovo Agent to review page content, generate structured summaries, or auto-archive stale documentation.
