We had a huge month in September across Rovo and all the AI features - from Automation to Jira workflows and some Whiteboards magic! Let’s dive in...
1. Atlassian MCP Server is now part of the Azure Integration Services MCP registry ⭐
Microsoft Azure Integration Services launched a new feature that allows enterprises to create their own MCP Registry. This register will provide advanced governance controls on top of MCP Servers. The Atlassian MCP Server team and Microsoft Integration Services worked to enable Atlassian MCP Server to be one of the default and out-of-the-box MCP Servers in the registry.

2. Jira Workflow Builder Agent (Beta) ⭐
Workflow Builder Agent is now available in beta inside the New Workflow editor. This AI-powered agent is designed to make configuring and managing workflows easier, faster, and more intuitive for all admins:
Natural language configuration: Update workflows by describing what you want in plain English. For example, “Add a transition from ‘In Review’ to ‘Done’ and restrict it to project leads.”
In-context knowledge base: Get answers and guidance on workflow concepts, best practices, and editor features - right where you need them.
Repetitive manual tasks: Quickly create, update, or delete statuses, transitions, and the most common workflow rules (like field validation, assignment, and restrictions) without clicking through multiple screens.
3. Whiteboard Exploration Agent (Beta) ⭐
You can now use Rovo on your Confluence whiteboard to summarise content, generate ideas, and explore topics. This feature is informed by the content you have access to in the Teamwork Graph and follow-up ideas, making it easier to brainstorm solo or with your team.
4. Slew of new features in Rovo Chat: Memory, third-party actions, dav visualisation ⭐
Memory: Rovo now includes a persistent memory that’s tied to your user profile and powered by your conversation history and the Teamwork Graph, so it understands the important context across your conversations, so you don’t have to. A memory that starts with you, scales to your team, and spans across your organisation. As a simple example, if you haven’t guessed already I love writing my headings with Emoji characters in there. I’ve told Rovo this is one of my writing preferences so any AI generated content now respects that.
Get work done directly from Rovo Chat: Rovo can take a lot more actions across Atlassian apps but also across Google Drive, SharePoint, Outlook, Slack and Microsoft teams with dozens of new actions. See the full list here.
Data visualization with Rovo Chat: Rovo Chat now helps you analyze and understand your data right from where work happens. Anyone on your team can upload a spreadsheet, connect a database, or paste in raw data and ask questions in plain language to get immediate, meaningful insights.

5. Access Rovo with Voice ⭐
Ever need to access corporate knowledge on the go—either walking between meetings or commuting into work? Now, we bring the power of Rovo and its answers grounded in corporate knowledge in Voice mode—just tap and talk to it. This is available via the Confluence mobile app on iOS and is coming to Android soon.
6. Improved alert grouping in JSM for Ops teams ⭐
We have improved our Alert grouping model, which now creates owner team-specific AI groups. Instead of merging alerts from different teams, we create teams mapped to a particular team—this hugely improves how the on-call agents interact with and take actions on alert groups.

7. Creating and managing automations ⭐
Public API: Automation’s public API is now in general availability, allowing customers to create and manage their automation flows in bulk.

Orchestrate multiple agents or tasks at the same time with Branching: Designed to help you orchestrate end-to-end workflows across teams and Rovo Agents, you can now run up to three branches of a workflow simultaneously. This is ideal for processes where multiple tasks need to happen at once but don’t depend on each other (e.g., onboarding steps for new employees). All branches auto-join before the workflow continues, ensuring they are kept in sync before the next step in the task.
8. Enhanced email customization capabilities ⭐
Users can now send emails from custom addresses with images and multiple content format options (plain text, rich text, HTML) from automation, enabling more personalised and branded communications with employees, customers, and prospects. Protip: Your agents can also return this rich formatting to be sent in email.
9. Rovo Studio improvements ⭐
Rovo agent governance + create permissions: With Rovo Agent create permissions, organizations can empower the right people to build agents while maintaining clear oversight and governance. Admins decide who can create agents, making it easier to manage and coordinate AI initiatives across teams. This feature streamlines agent management and supports efficient collaboration as organizations scale their use of AI.

Under the hood improvements to Rovo Agents: Rovo agents just got faster, smarter, and more capable—enjoy reduced response times, sharper instruction following, and the ability to handle more complex workflows in a single session. Enhanced memory means agents can now remember and build on previous actions within your conversation, making multi-step tasks smoother than ever. These updates deliver a more responsive and powerful experience, helping you get more done with less effort.

12. New updated docs on Rovo security and data governance ⭐
As the Rovo rollout continues, we’re helping customers understand our enterprise-grade approach to trust for Rovo. In September, we launched a new community post covering three key security and governance topics that customers have reached out to the field and trust engagement team to discuss. The post covers topics including:
Rovo’s access to third-party data via app connectors
Guardrails for agent permission controls
Security, compliance, and privacy processes that protect your data

13. Jira Data Center Rovo Connector ⭐
Organizations running Jira Data Center can now connect their on-premise Jira data to Rovo in the cloud. The new connector enables secure, near real-time sync of Jira DC content to Rovo, unlocking AI-powered search, chat, and agentic workflows for hybrid and DC customers. Setup is streamlined via a new UI, and strict permission mapping ensures users only see what they’re allowed to. This is a major step for hybrid and HELA customers to access cloud AI value while maintaining their existing DC infrastructure.

Streamlining the transfer process makes sharing insights and collaborating across teams faster and more efficient. Designed to address the need for simplified reporting and knowledge distribution, it empowers users to create polished, shareable reports in just a few clicks—turning research into actionable, accessible knowledge.
