Prepare your project updates with Drafts!

Every week, we prepare our weekly updates for all of our projects to share the status of our work.

We’ve heard from your feedback that you’d like to write draft project updates throughout the week so that you can:

  • jot down notes throughout the week to keep track of what’s happened,

  • prepare all your updates in advance then post when you’re ready with all the latest details,

  • allow for multiple contributors to draft the update together.

We’re excited to announce that now you can with draft project updates!

Saving a draft

Once you’ve written up a draft of your update (including any extra notes, learnings, decisions, or risks that you’ve captured), you can then hit the “Save draft” button right next to “Post update”.

Once the draft has been saved, it’s visible to all contributors of the project, so you can pick up right where someone else left off. This is perfect for projects with many contributing parts and streams of work.

We’re so excited for you to try this out and we’d love to hear your feedback in the comments below.

Is this feature generally available? Do I have to enable it somewhere? I can't see the "Save Draft" button in my screen.

Nicole, I love being able to write a draft! Any chance that you all are considering making the cadence of updates configurable? We work on very large projects that move slower and a weekly update is not realistic. We sooooooo.... want to use Atlas but cannot without this option.

While this is very cool and exciting, it seems like this is only available for customers using the new Atlassian Home / Platform Experiences. I see the save draft option when I open my sandbox environment which does not have the old Atlas experience.

Our production site is using the old Atlas and is does not have the option to switch to the new experience.

According to this comment from @Nir Nikolaevsky on the announcement about the Atlas evolution, they were waiting on the ability to add permissions, which they've released, so I'm not sure when we're going to be moved or given the ability to move ourselves into the new experience.

Is my assumption correct, @Nicole Schwartz , that this feature is not available for old Atlas experience users that have yet to be let in to the new experience?

@Harrison Ponce Yes this is available for Platform Experiences.

@Hugo Oliveira This may be why you're currently not able to see this feature.

Here is a recent update on the upcoming Atlas to platform migration.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or feedback, thanks!
