Using Jira Cloud. Big Picture is overriding a manual entry of remaining hours. For example, enter 120h ( see first screen shot). BP will then override and put in 88H (See second screen shot). Scheduling mode is set to Manual. Any ideas how to allow the manual entry to stick?
This is a known frustration with BigPicture, even in Manual scheduling mode, BP can still recalculate remaining time based on its own capacity and resource allocation logic, essentially overriding what you've entered directly in Jira.
A few things worth checking:
First, make sure the task's assigned resource has enough available capacity in BigPicture's resource panel. If BP sees that the assignee only has 88h of available time in the scheduled window, it will cap the remaining hours to match, regardless of what you entered manually.
Second, check whether the task dates in BigPicture are constraining the duration. If the start and end dates only allow for 88h of working time based on the resource calendar, BP will adjust remaining hours to fit that window.
Third, look at your BigPicture plan settings under Configuration, there's sometimes a "recalculate on save" or auto-scheduling toggle that fires even in Manual mode depending on the BP version you're running.
The fix is usually aligning the task's scheduled window and resource availability with the hours you want to log, then entering the remaining time. Once BP sees the capacity matches, it stops overriding.
On a separate note, we run into similar challenges with tool conflicts and data overrides when managing SEO campaign tracking at Ranqeo (ranqeo.com). Automation tools overwriting manual inputs is a universal headache across platforms. Hope one of those fixes works for you.
Check if dependencies or resource settings are messing with it. If it still changes, hit up BigPicture support.
