What's your most repetitive Confluence page creation workflow?

Hey Atlassian Community — Eric here from DataPingo.

Quick question: How much time do you spend copying Confluence pages that follow the same structure every time?

Not writing content — just duplicating a page, renaming it, moving it to the right space, and repeating. A few patterns I keep hearing about:

  • Monthly / quarterly reports — same format every cycle, only the date changes
  • Sprint pages — retros, planning docs, summaries created every two weeks
  • Project or client pages — one page per project or account, same sections, different names
  • Onboarding docs — a new hire page per person, every cohort
  • Inventories — one page per item (servers, vendors, tools, SOPs) with dozens of records to set up

Where things break down

Confluence's built-in duplicate is fine for one-offs. The pain hits in batches:

  • Duplicate, rename, move — repeat 10–20 times
  • Naming drifts ("Report Jan" vs "January Report" vs "2026-01 Report")
  • A page lands under the wrong parent and nobody notices for weeks
  • Labels don't copy over, so Content Properties Reports miss records

One of my users put it well: he had more inventory pages he wanted to build — but the upfront setup time meant he just didn't bother.

Tips that help (no extra tools needed)

  • Keep one "source" page per type — never edit it, copy only from it
  • Set your naming convention first — "Report — YYYY-MM" is easier to search and sort later
  • Decide the parent page before you start — moving pages after the fact adds work
  • Batch in one session — create all pages for the sprint, month, or cohort at once
  • Check labels on the source page — so report macros pick up every copy automatically

What I built to solve this

I got tired of the manual loop and built Bulk Page Cloner for Confluence: pick any existing page as the source, name all your copies upfront, set the destination, and create 1–25 pages in one run — labels included.

Example: full year of monthly reports, created upfront
  • Bulk Page Cloner Product Report — June 2026
  • Bulk Page Cloner Product Report — July 2026
  • Bulk Page Cloner Product Report — August 2026
  • …through Dec 2026

All under the right parent, named consistently. Same workflow works for sprint docs, client pages, onboarding pages, or any inventory.

Questions for the community

  • What's your team's most repetitive Confluence page creation workflow?
  • Do you batch-create pages upfront or one at a time as-needed?
  • Has naming inconsistency or a misplaced page ever caused real problems?
  • Has setup friction ever stopped you from creating pages you'd otherwise want?
