Hi Atlassian Community!

I’m happy to introduce Flow Time Report, a Jira Cloud app that helps you track how long each issue stays in every status, right inside the issue view β€” no dashboards or custom reports required.

Why Flow Time Report?

Understanding how work flows through your Jira board is essential β€” but Jira doesn’t show how long an issue was stuck in β€œTo Do”, or how many days it spent β€œIn Progress.”

That’s where Flow Time Report comes in.

It automatically tracks time in status for every issue, giving you full visibility into:

πŸ”Ή How long tasks stay in each status
πŸ”Ή Who changed the status and when
πŸ”Ή Where delays and slowdowns happen
πŸ”Ή How delivery performance evolves over time

No setup. No configuration. Just install the app β€” and see insights instantly.

What Flow Time Report Shows

Flow Time Report adds a detailed status timeline to each Jira issue, showing exactly how long the issue stayed in every status, along with key transition details:

  • Status name – e.g., "To Do", "In Progress", "Code Review"

  • Time in status – calculated in days, hours, and minutes

  • Start and end timestamps – when the issue entered and exited the status

  • Responsible user – who made the transition

  • Progress badge – shows if time spent is On Track, At Risk, or Overdue

This gives your team instant visibility into where time is spent, who moved the issue, and which stages may be causing delays β€” all inside the issue view.

Visual Progress Badges

You can add progress indicators to quickly see if time in status is:

  • 🟒 On Track – time in status is within the expected threshold

  • 🟑 At Risk – time is approaching the limit

  • πŸ”΄ Overdue – time exceeded threshold

These badges help teams spot potential blockers or slowdowns at a glance.

Export Options

Export the full time-in-status data as:

  • CSV – for spreadsheets and data crunching

  • JSON – for automation and reporting tools

  • Markdown – for Confluence or wikis

  • Plain Text – for simple notes and messages
