Need some quick feedback from Jira admins and project managers on UI placement.
I built a tool that lets teams create a clean, read-only task view for outside clients and vendors so they can check progress without burning a paid Jira seat.
Right now, the link generator sits inside a Dashboard Gadget (pick the project → set a PIN → copy the link).
I'm debating whether to move it directly into the Project Sidebar:
- Dashboard Gadget: Keeps project menus completely clean, but people actually have to create or open a dashboard to use it.
- Project Sidebar: Zero setup. It already knows what project you are in, so generating a link is one click away, but it adds another item to the left-hand menu.
How protective are you of your sidebar space? Would you rather have the one-click convenience inside the active project, or do you prefer keeping sidebar clutter to an absolute minimum?
