We’re excited to introduce a brand-new notification option in SLA Time and Report for Jira: Microsoft Teams notifications!

Until now, SLA Time and Report users could automatically send notifications to Slack whenever an SLA goal was exceeded. Not every team relies on Slack. Some of our customers use Microsoft Teams as their primary hub for daily communication, and you’ve regularly asked us to bring SLA alerts there too.

From now on, you can automatically route SLA breach alerts directly to your Microsoft Teams channel.

Why bring SLA notifications to Microsoft Teams?

Tracking an SLA is only half the battle. The real challenge is ensuring your team knows the exact moment something requires their immediate attention.

An SLA can be configured perfectly inside Jira, but if information about an impending or actual breach remains trapped inside the work item or standard reports, someone still has to manually spot it. That introduces delays and human error.

This is precisely where automated actions transform your workflow.

In SLA Time and Report, you can define automated triggers for when an SLA goal is exceeded – such as automatically reassigning the work item, updating its priority, changing status, or firing off a message. While Slack was previously an option for chat alerts, Microsoft Teams is now officially part of that automated suite.

If your team spends their workday in Teams, critical SLA breach notifications will now reach them where they already collaborate – no extra workflow switching required.

How Microsoft Teams notifications work

The new Notify via Microsoft Teams action works seamlessly as a Limit Exceeded trigger inside your SLA goal setup.

Setting it up takes just a couple of minutes:

  1. Generate a Webhook URL for the target Microsoft Teams channel.
  2. Open your SLA goal configuration in SLA Time and Report for Jira.
  3. Select Notify via Microsoft Teams as your Limit Exceeded action.
  4. Paste your Teams Webhook URL and hit save.

The moment an SLA goal is breached, the app sends an instant alert directly to that Teams channel. The notification includes clear details about the affected Jira work item, providing a direct link so your team can jump right back into Jira to resolve the work item.

Want to include custom Jira fields or specific details? You can fully personalize the notification message template using dynamic shortcodes to match your team’s exact communication needs.

One more notification channel – zero friction to your existing setup

What makes this update so powerful is that Microsoft Teams notifications plug directly into the SLA goals and schedules you’ve already created in the app.

Here’s how a real workflow looks in practice:

  • Trigger: SLA timer starts when a work item transitions to In Progress.
  • Pause/Stop: Pauses according to your team’s customized Work Schedule and stops when moved to Done.
  • Goal: 4 hours total handling time.
  • Automated Action: If the 4-hour limit is exceeded, SLA Time and Report instantly fires a Microsoft Teams notification to your support channel.

The core SLA engine continues calculating precise time behind the scenes, while Microsoft Teams simply becomes an active extension of your team's reaction speed. Even better? You can mix and match — sending Teams alerts for certain SLA goals while using Slack or Jira field updates for others.
