TL;DR: Autonomous spaces are coming to Confluence with Better Content Archiving
If you are about to switch on Rovo or Atlassian Intelligence, here is the uncomfortable part: Confluence has no reliable native way to keep a space clean on its own.
Natively in Confluence:
❌ Page status is a label you set by hand. 5 centrally-managed statuses maximum.
❌ The owner field exists, but you cannot wire it into review reminders.
❌ Archiving depends on automation flows that get unwieldy the moment you have more than a few spaces.
It all mattered before AI. It matters way more now.
Rovo answers from whatever it reads, and it has no sense of whether a page is still true. Ask it for the customer escalation process, and it will hand back the page that looks most relevant, even if that process changed two reorganizations ago.

Every one of those pages still needs an owner, a review date, and eventually an archiving decision.
