🆕Projectrak has fully adopted Forge!

As part of the Deiser Apps (part of Devoteam) team, I wanted to share that Projectrak for Jira has fully adopted on Forge, using Forge Remote (same as Exporter for Jira🤫)

This is a benefit because it now allows all the PMO Collection for Jira solutions, to provide a more future-ready foundation for ongoing compatibility, scalability, and new Atlassian platform capabilities ready, without changing how teams use their apps in their daily work.

What does that actually mean?

For people who don't build Atlassian Marketplace Apps this announcement probably raises more questions than answers. So here's an explanation, starting from the beginning:

• Connect and Forge: Connect was the framework (still in function for some Atlassian Marketplace Apps -no us!-) that was traditionally used to build many Jira and Confluence apps which Atlassian has now classify it as a legacy, direction new app development efforts toward Forge.

As you can imagine by now, Forge is current's Atlassian development platform for Atlassian Marketplace Cloud apps. This is the model Projectrak now uses!!

At the same time, it's important to note that Projectrak is on Forge Remote which should not be confused with an app running exclusively on Atlassian-hosted infrastructure, a.k.a. Full Forge, which apps such as Budgety for Jira and Capacity for Jira, both from the PMO Collection for Jira, are.

What does this mean for Projectrak current users?

As no major change is expected, we communicated this transition to our customers in advance so Jira Admins could complete any required update to preserve their existing Projectrak configuration, avoiding unnecessary rework.

One way or another, our customers can always reach our support team for any inquiry.

What does this mean for future Projectrak for Jira users?

As Atlassian is continuing to build new Cloud extensibility based on Forge, and Projectrak helping enterprise customers to provide a PMO layer for project centralization and standardization, being full Forge Remote, keep Projectrak aligned with the platform on which Jira Cloud apps are evolving.

Recent examples of this, include bringing Project Milestones into the Project Sheet data (as you can see below⬇️), and allowing Assets objects become part of portfolio views, providing relevant business context about their projects in Jira.
