New Release: Enhanced Section Approval in Approvals for Confluence

Section Approval Macro in our Approvals for Confluence marketplace app have always helped teams keep specific parts of a Confluence page accurate and well-reviewed. With this new release, we’ve made the feature more powerful, more flexible, and easier to manage.

If your team owns different parts of a long document - policies, procedures, knowledge base articles, technical chapters - these improvements will make your review process much smoother.

What’s New in Section Approval

You’ll now see an improved configuration panel with more control over how each section approval behaves. Here’s what you can do with the updated macro:

✔ Add Approvers more easily

Search for individual users or select an entire Approval Team, and the app will automatically add everyone in that team as approvers.

✔ Notify Approvers automatically

Enable email notifications so your reviewers get an alert the moment they’re asked to approve a section.

✔ Keep Page Owners updated

When this option is switched on, the page owner receives updates whenever an approver approves or rejects the section.

✔ Expire approvals when content changes

Turn on Expire on Edit to automatically expire the approval if the section or page content is edited.

✔ Use time-based expiry

You can now control when an approval expires in two ways:

• Set Date & Time — choose a specific expiry date and time.

• Set Time Interval — e.g., ‘2 weeks after approval’.

  You can also choose whether the interval applies only once or every time the section is approved again.

✔ Set Minimum Required Approvals

Define how many approvals are needed before the section is officially approved.

✔ Disable Automatic Comments

If you prefer a cleaner page history, you can stop the app from posting automatic comments when decisions are made.

✔ Prevent Decision Changes

Lock the decision once an approver approves or rejects, preventing it from being changed later.

✔Section Approval History

View a simple audit trail of status changes, decisions, comments, and timestamps.
