How to log time in Jira with Worklogs - Time Tracking and Time Reports?

Logging your time in Jira doesn’t have to be a hassle. Log time with Worklogs - Time Tracking and Reports: a how-to guide

Logging time using the Worklogs app is convenient and simple, and can be done in two ways:

1. Logging time directly from a work item view

  • If you're already inside the work item you want to log time for:
    • Click on the "Time tracking” field.
    • Enter the amount of time spent in the "Time spent" field.
    • Click "Save" to confirm your entry.

2. Logging Time from the Worklogs App View

You can also log time directly from the Worklogs app and you have two options here:

➤ Option A: Using the “Log Time” Button

  • Click the "Log time" button in the top right corner.
  • Start typing to search for the Jira work item, or choose one from the list of suggestions.
  • Select the date, enter the time spent, and (optionally) add a short description. The original estimation will be automatically filled if the work item was estimated earlier.
  • Click "Log time" to save your worklog.

➤ Option B: Using the Clock Icon On the Time Report Table

  • In the Time Report table, find the cell where the work item row meets the date column.
  • Hover over that cell and click the clock icon that will appear. 
  • Fill in the details just like above: time spent, optional description, and click "Log time".
