Most enterprise projects don’t happen entirely inside one company. Your internal teams may manage their work in Jira, while freelance designers, video editors, consultants, agencies, customers, or other external collaborators work outside your Jira environment. They may not need Jira access at all. But they still need to know: When is the first draft due? When is the customer review? Has the delivery date changed? And this is where collaboration can become unnecessarily complicated.

The app allows Jira work items to be synchronized with Google Calendar and displayed there as calendar events. Instead of asking external collaborators to follow the project in Jira, your team can continue managing work in Jira while making relevant dates available through Google Calendar. External collaboration is rarely static. Today, a calendar may need to be shared with contractor A. Your Jira team can keep its existing workflows while external collaborators receive the project dates relevant to them through Google Calendar. Setting up the connection is straightforward.
Install Google Calendar Bridge for Jira from the Atlassian Marketplace and apply a valid license or trial. Jira administrators can then configure who within the Jira organization is allowed to use the app.
Open Google Calendar Bridge for Jira and select Create. When creating your first bridge, connect the Google account containing the calendar you want to use. The app uses Google authorization to access the calendars required for synchronization.

You don’t have to send every Jira work item to Google Calendar. Define the scope of your bridge using: a Jira project; a Jira filter; or JQL. This gives you control over which work items become Google Calendar events. For example, a media team could use JQL or a Jira filter to synchronize only work related to a specific campaign, customer, production workflow, or group of deliverables.
Next, select the Jira field that should determine the start date or date-time of the Google Calendar event. You can also select an optional end field. This lets you turn the Jira dates that matter to your workflow into actual calendar events, whether they represent production deadlines, customer reviews, approvals, releases, or other scheduled work.
Once the bridge is created, synchronization starts automatically. In the paid version, bridges synchronize every 2 minutes, so changes made to synchronized Jira work can be reflected in Google Calendar with up to a two-minute delay.
Enterprise teams can also control how Google Calendar Bridge itself is used inside Jira. Jira administrators can configure:
App access — allow all Jira users to use the app or restrict it to selected groups.
Bridge access — keep bridges Personal, so users manage only their own bridges, or make them Public to users who have access to the app.
Bridge Managers — when bridges are Personal, selected groups can still be given permission to view and manage all bridges.
Jira administrators can use Audit logs to review synchronization activity. Logs can be filtered by bridge name, message, type, and date range, helping administrators investigate synchronization issues without relying on individual users to diagnose them. For enterprise deployments with multiple bridges and teams, this provides an additional layer of operational visibility.
Enterprise collaboration doesn’t necessarily mean putting every participant into the same system. Your Jira teams may need the depth and structure Jira provides for managing work. Contractors, customers, agencies, and partners may simply need reliable visibility into the dates that affect them.
