To Agile or not to Agile

Working at a commodities trading company, and looking into options for improving operational procedures.   Interested to learn if Agile is the way to go!

Hey John - I am a little biased (okay maybe a lot), but I would say it is the ONLY way to go to be truly successful.   :-)

he-heh.    I hear that a lot.   Question is WHY is it the only way to go?   

How do you ensure a consistent company wide architecture?  

How you align ideas for new functionality to the company strategy?  Not all cool new ideas that team x or y likes, is necessarily a priority or even needed to advance the goals of the company.

Even long before Agile existed, this was a challenge:  teams building stuff that they thought was cool, but had limited impact on the bottom line.  How does Agile solve this?
