Create Epic from Backlog

Hi!

I can create an issue of Epic issue type on the Backlog by pressing "C".

But I can't create the same Epic issue type from the "+" option on the Backlog.

There is no option of Epic on the dropdown.

What seems to be the problem?

this is because the Epic creation button is on the Epics panel in the backlog, as you can see in my screenshot : 

This is how you can quickly create an Epic in the backlog

However, I purposefully switched off this option as you can see from the screen. For this specific project I want Epics to be created on the Backlog and seen as separate issues on the Kanban Board.

And it works if I use the hot key ("C"), but does not work in the other way. This means that JIRA allows to do so, but I am missing some setting.
