Hello everybody,

I am new project manager and we are starting with Jira.
We are working with multiple ict partner and developers. To smoothen communication we have now chosen to have our own Jira and let al parties work in the same workspace

Any tips are always welcome!

Have a great New Years Eve!

Hi @Max ,

Welcome to the group, and good luck with your Jira setup! It's great that you've brought everyone into one workspace. A quick tip: try to keep your Jira board clutter-freeβ€”it’ll help you and your teams stay organized. Also, as your projects grow, tracing issues across multiple teams can become tricky, so staying proactive on structure can save headaches later.

Wishing you a fantastic New Year's Eve! πŸŽ‰

Hello Max,

And to you, Happy New Year!

JIRA is a great choice for the set-up it sounds like you have there, it's my experience that working with multiple suppliers on a project they each come with their own ideas about how the project should run.

As a new PM, it's worth taking on board some of their advice, though I'd say make sure you end up with a firm consensus that works for you as a PM in a few key areas:

  • Get your workflow right: Workflow status is almost synonymous with handover to different people (groups) and so everyone needs to be clear on that
  • Make sure you're all agreed on the definition of DONE (e.g. Code Complete, Testing Complete), you'd be surprised working with people from different geographies how this word can be lost in translation.
  • 3-4 sprints into a project, JIRA standard tools really support you. This is where you can start to get a feeling for team velocity (use that Velocity Chart), as well as Epic Burndowns that give you some idea of how long it'll take to finish your bigger blocks of work

Hope this helps. Welcome.

Justin

Thanks, found the University. Works great, especially on the more advanced settings.
