Friday Fun: What Conferences have you been to? What do you have coming up?

Happy Friday Everyone!

Sorry to post and run, but right now I’m on my way to Toronto (don’t worry I have an hour ride on the train I can be watching for comments). What am I dong you ask? Well if you couldn’t guess from the title I’m headed to a conference(ish). I’m on my way to Fan Expo. This is a convention about everything: movies, television, gaming, anime, cosplay, etc. I’m going because it’s a ton of fun and because I will be volunteering at the Extra Life guild booth where we will be looking to spread the word, take donations and hopefully sign up some new recruits!

I thought it might be fun to learn about what other conferences you all attend outside of Atlassian Team. It can be a work conference or it can be something fun you enjoy.

In addition to Fan Expo, I will also be attending KupoCon (also in Toronto) later in the year which is an event devoted to everything about the video game series Final Fantasy. I have a number of friends that I play the online game with that I will be meeting there, so I’m really looking forward to that.

Finally, there’s a very good chance I’ll be at Team ‘24 so if you are planning to attend that, be sure to look out for me. I’ll try to make myself “hard to miss“ like I did this past year at Team '23.

Alright i’s your turn now! What events have you attended this year? or what are you looking forward to attending? Let me know in the comments below!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Friday to all of you awesome folks in the Community! 🌟

Hey there, @Jimmy Seddon , I must admit the fan expo you mentioned sounds like an absolute blast! Count me in if fate ever smiles upon me with a chance to attend.

When it comes to my event adventures, I'm a fan of stand-up comedy and automobile expos. And hey, speaking of events, a bunch of my colleagues got to experience the TEAM'23 event in Vegas. They couldn't stop raving about how incredible it was!

So that's my story. Wishing you a ton of fun in Toronto, and as for me, I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for exciting events closer to home! 😂

Warmest regards,

Ananjan Mishra

That looks FUN!  I've missed out on Conferences lately.  Was planning for the Atlassian conference a few years ago but then Covid hit and well, that was nixed.  Hoping to go next year.  Happy Friday, all!

I visited Fan Expo Chicago just a few weeks ago and had a blast!  Here's a link to some of my takeaways from the event:

I haven't been to any conferences since before Covid, but prior to that and besides Atlassian Summit I had been to

  • multiple years of the HP conference (where I won a the inaugural  award as the Most Valued Member Americas in their User Community, just to toot my own horn),
  • AWS re-invent, and
  • multiple years of a conference/camp for ballet, just for fun.

<edit> @Andy Gladstone 's comment reminded me I went to the Red Hat Summit once also, in Boston. :)

Great question @Jimmy Seddon! I just attended Twillio Signal 2023 on Wednesday and I learned so much about the email and text message space I live it and I love Twillio. One of the keynotes was by Selena Gomez and I find her very inspiring.

I also attend Phoenix Fan Fusion every year to meet celebs and attend panels and buy great stuff! It is so much fun!

Oh wow, that looks like a lot of fun!

I've missed meeting people in person during events and conferences (thx covid), so I am excited to join several this year!

Firs stop -> Jira Day 2023!

Much like @Trudy Claspill I have not been to many conferences post-COVID other than Team '22 & '23. But pre-COVID, and with my former employer I was at HP Conferences across the US each year (we were one of their top channel partners). However my favorite was always Red Hat Summit. The vibe and user community at RH (pre-IBM) was very much like Atlassian - people passionate about Open Source tools and methodologies. Any conference I could take an Amtrak train to over flying was always a bonus. The Acela line on the east coast of the US is like flying first class!

I'd love to attend a Lego Brickfest since the idea of seeing so many 'artists' intrigues me, but my kids won't let me go (yet!).

Conferences always bring such diverse experiences! I've been lucky to attend a bunch—tech summits, leadership seminars, you name it. They're like knowledge treasure troves! As for what's coming up, my team's planning something exciting with business team building companies to amp up our synergy. It's incredible how these events foster collaboration and spark innovation. Can't wait to see the results!
