Hello Everyone!

It’s that time once again to take a look at everything that has happened in the past month! From major events, to product announcements, to amazing people providing great tips & best practices to help the Community, I guarantee there is something here for everyone. Let’s get started!

Announcements & Highlights:

As always, there are a TON of amazing things happening and here is just a small sample of all the great things you don’t want to miss out on!

  • First up, in case you somehow managed to miss it during the holiday rush, Team '25 registration is open! No it will not be back in Vegas this year, but I will be another amazing event worth attending. Get your ticket now to secure the early bird discount!

  • At Team '24, it was announced that Jira Software and Jira Work Management are going to be merged into just “Jira“. In 2025, Atlassian is going on a roadshow at a number of local event chapters to talk about what this will mean in the coming months. Be sure to check out the article to see when they are coming to a chapter near you.

  • Have you heard about Rovo? Do you want to learn more about it and what it does? Check out the next bite-sized course and learn about Data Visualizations in Rovo. Don’t forget, there’s a badge in it for you!

  • Next, Atlassian has finished decommissioning their service that hosts a number of private GraphQL queries including CloudUser in favor of alternative public ones. If you were affected by this change, you should have already been notified. However, if you have any follow up questions, Atlassian will take them int he comments of this article.

  • Finally, a reminder that the external Assets platform (not the one in Jira Service Management) was shutdown yesterday. If this is the first you are hearing about this, you should check out this article for details on what is no longer functioning.

Member Article Highlights:

As always, there are a TON of amazing articles written by many of your fellow community members. This is just a small sample of all the great content you don’t want to miss out on!

  • First, at the beginning of the month Atlassian announced their “Global Week of Good“.  @Matthias Gaiser _K15t_ has done an excellent job of describing exactly what this was and sharing a number of the initiatives that were going on. If you love to read “feel good“ stories about how people are volunteering to help one another, please give this one a read.

  • Next, I love seeing fun things that people will find with data or neat ways they will use data to inform decisions.  @David Nickell has made an interesting discovery about User Impact score and has posed the question if others are using sophisticated data analytics?
    User Impact Score for JIRA

  • So you’re using a free Jira account, is it really “free“?  @John Funk details the limitations as well as all the benefits of using Jira Cloud on it’s free plan. If you want to learn more about the best Jira option for personal use, you should check this out.
Using a Free Jira Account is Fine ... Right?

  • If there’s one thing I know my development teams struggle with it’s “How do I correctly estimate stories/tasks?“.  @Harshit Grover has put together some really good tips on how to get better at estimating. If you are struggling with estimation, or just curious about other methods, you should give this a read through.

  • Finally, AI is the emerging technology that is taking the planet by storm. If you haven’t really started exploring everything that is available to you, I recommend you start by reading this fantastic article by @Bryan Guffey! Personally, I’m not familiar with a number of the tools they have presented, but now I have a starting point to do some research.

Love the new 5x5 format!

I'm going to use the new format to start scoring myself each month. This month I scored 17/25 (68%) on total content featured, but 14/17 (82%) on content pertinent to me. So - I only have 3 new tabs opened to review!
