Happy Monday, amazing community peeps!
Hope you’re all gearing up for an exciting week because… it’s TEAM 24 week! 🎉 From tomorrow, the event kicks off in Barcelona, and I couldn’t be more pumped!
Now, we all know how much fun events and conferences can be, right? Whether you’re there to learn, network, or just soak in the vibe, they always leave you with some great memories. This year, I had the awesome chance to attend GISEC in Dubai—a paradise for all the cybersecurity buffs out there!🔐✨
But enough about me—let’s make this Monday a little more fun! I want to hear about YOUR favorite event memories! Whether it’s a tech summit, a movie festival, a crazy fun beer event, or something totally random—anything goes! 🎉
Let’s get the comment section buzzing with stories that made you laugh, learn, or just left you with a great memory, and let’s get the party started for TEAM 24 week!
One of my personal highlights was meeting you at that Team event @John Funk!
While the Atlassian Team events have been awesome, I have a different favorite.
My previous company (I guess two companies ago) was purchased by a company based out of Santa Barbara, California in November 2014. In the following 19 months, I would spend one week a month in either Santa Barbara, Amsterdam or Singapore at one of the new company's offices. I made a decision that if I was going to travel so often and be away from my family that much I needed to take some 'me' time on each trip. That resulted in some amazing memory making events alone and with work colleagues.
Kayaking with seals in the Pacific Ocean. Cycling along the perimeter of the Netherlands. Jogging through Eucalyptus forests. All of these were amazing experiences I gifted myself by planning ahead on each excursion.
About 8 months after moving to England for a job with a company in Cambridge, my boss and I went to a Win Writers (online help tools) conference in San Jose, CA.
One afternoon, my boss and I were strolling through the vendors section and stopped at the booth of a well-known database company. They told me they had an office in London and proceeded to try to talk me into working for them (with my boss standing right next to me!).
I told them that I lived in Cambridge, and they came back that I could work from home. I finally told them that I didn't move to a country where I knew 2 people (other than those at my new job) to work from home, where I would meet no one else.
Luckily, my boss found the whole exchange hilarious.
The first time I took my kids to Disney World.
Many years ago I attended a Web developer conference in Austin, Texas. It was pretty wild, and the first time I'd ever seen neon blow-up furniture! (Very 90s)
For this year, it was the time we had a chocolate fountain at an SF ACE event. It was v. popular and made me smile
My favorite event was Team 2022. It was my first in-person event after the pandemic, and I chose to drive to Las Vegas to avoid the airports. It felt amazing to reconnect with people and experience the energy that Atlassian conferences always bring. The whole experience was both fun and refreshing!
@Carlos Garcia Navarro that's superb! A road trip sounds really fun. Also, Atlassian events are just the best, with a mix of fun and learning!
Hi
My first event where Atlassian sponsored in 2018 and I met some truly fantastic people who are still in my life today
