It's finally arrived (almost). Atlassian Team '23 will be taking place in the City of Lights this coming week. Las Vegas is an iconic city, portrayed in so many books, movies, TV shows, plays and songs. Yet it is less than 100 years old.
There are so many sights and sounds that will conjure up thoughts of Las Vegas.
The famous Vegas skyline - ever changing and evolving as the massive hotels are built, demolished, redesigned and relaunched. Even the Empire has started construction on the third death star!
And even though the nickname is the City of Lights, many people make it to Las Vegas but never see the outside of a hotel, conference center or casino.
With all of the hype around Team '23, I have a lot of Vegas on my mind. But in this case, I don't think it will be a case of What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas - the content will be out of this world!
What comes to your mind when you think of Vegas? Post a comment and a picture in the thread and let us know what your Vegas trigger is.
Viva Las Vegas, and may the odds always be in your favor!
What happens in Vegas gets posted to Community! 🙃
@Andy Gladstone - when I think of Vegas, I think of nightlife and food.
While I don't go out as much for nightlife, I still search for coffee and bites at all hours. Two highlights:
@Dave Liao I could have totally predicted this will be a Dim Sum post! You need to post a pic of you eating some dim sum (pun intended) from Vegas.
✅ DIMSUM-1 created to track this task
This will be my first time in Vegas, so right now everything I know comes from movies. Honestly, this is what I think of when I think of Las Vegas 😁
Love the Ocean series but the first as the best!
Amazing how young they all look!
In residence concerts!
It's amazing how we often forget that certain movies and shows were filmed in unexpected locations. For instance, did you know that Miss Congeniality 2, starring Sandra Bullock, was actually filmed in the Venetian?
Check out this clip for a trip down memory lane:
Oddly, that is one that I know has been on so many channels, but I have never seen. I just think I have a mental block where I want Sandra Bullock to remain the girl from Speed for me forever.
I understand the struggle. For me, it's when Sandra speaks fluent German.
Looking at this, I couldn't stop laughing while Sandra schooled him in German, but poor Jimmy had no clue what was going on. And you won't learn THIS from me. 😂
@Andy Gladstone use the Netflix or Prime App – download Miss Congeniality 1+2 on your phone or tablet. And watch it while flying to Vegas.
I might have to do that, too, and I've seen both! This is still one of the things that can make me gigglesnort!
And she is absolutely right. And when TikTok gets a hold of this, I bet they'll mix it up with Miley Cyrus' "Flowers" for that extra layer! 🎶🌸
Also the dice and poker chips:
I believe I went there when I was 8 years old and the dice and poker chips kind of stuck in my mind :)
Hahaha, oh boy. I guess I am heading to Clark County on Monday... :)
I'm with @Dan Breyen on this one and it is definitely the residencies (concerts) and the shows. I have seen so many residencies in Las Vegas I could not even count them including Celine Dion, Elton John, Wayne Newton, Rod Stewart, Sting, and most recently Maroon5 and Tesla! I've also seen almost all the Cirque du Soleil's and Blue Man Group many times.
I'll miss you all in Vegas since I can no longer attend, but have some fun for me and I'll see you next year for sure!
Same here, next year!
@Summer_Hogan that's a lot of time spent in Vegas! The only one I ever saw from your list was BMG, and in NYC.
Yes @Andy Gladstone - I've been to Vegas probably 40-50 times in my life and I lived there when I was a teenager when my father was stationed at Nellis AFB.
@Monique vdB - sorry you could not attend either. I had to cancel at the last minute due to a family issue so I can relate! I'm glad I'm not the only one!
I hope you all have an amazing time! 🎉
Not as amazing as we would have without our Commander in Chief on the Online Community. I'll have an extra beer for you @Monique vdB!
Party time!! that's what I think of :) can't wait to see everyone in Vegas <3
LOL, an epic video!!!! Love it.
Circus Circus was one of the first places I visited in my many trips while I was living in Southern California.
I've experienced Fremont Street where gambling first began, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride. Live music, dancing, impersonators, and flashy lights are everywhere. And let's not forget the thrill of watching Slotzilla Ziplines fly above you – a true Las Vegas experience.
Ice Hockey, especially now that they have a pro hockey team.
I so wish I could be there with everyone to enjoy team 23 and all of the great times that I know will be had. From my last summit in Vegas...
I think of the buzzing night life and the chaos of the strip. Sensory overload!
I was one of those people who didn't make it out of the resort last year. But what a buzz it was and looking forward to this edition so much! Seems the death star has come quite a long way since last year. This was the view I had from my room 12 months ago:
The movies that this city inspires.
Deniro in Casino was amazing!
My first - and thus far only in-person - Atlassian Summit in Las Vegas in 2019.
As I'm not a frequent traveler, this was quite the experience for me.
"Sin City" on the other hand also is so superficial and artificial, kind of an adult Disneyland.
And yes, all of the answers above and below about Las Vegas in the movies ...
Cassie Mayes is crushing this booth!!!
Agreed! The booth this year is BEYOND!
It's nice seeing all of the vendors!
Happy Summit to all!!!!
Hey, really nice write-up, @Andy Gladstone for those community dwellers who couldn't attend! To get a bite of the spirit 😍
Happy Teaming for everyone up there!!
