Jira Advanced Roadmap (plans), is helps in planning and visualizing work across multiple teams and projects in Jira. It helps you create a high-level overview, manage dependencies, and keep stakeholders informed about upcoming milestones.
It allows you to:
Getting Started with Advanced Roadmap:
1. Create a Plan:
In your Jira instance, navigate to "Plans" and click "Create plan."
Give your plan a clear and descriptive name.
Choose the access level (public or private).
2. Connect Issue Sources:
Select the projects, boards, or filters containing the work you want to include.
This allows Advanced Roadmap to pull relevant issues into your plan.
3. Refine Issues (Optional):
For users with numerous issues, filter and refine the displayed tasks for a more focused view.
4. Building Your Roadmap:
The left side displays a hierarchical view of your work (initiatives, epics, stories).
The timeline showcases your work visually, with tasks represented as bars.
Drag and drop tasks to adjust their start and end dates.
5. Managing Dependencies:
Advanced Roadmap allows you to define dependencies between tasks.
This helps visualize potential bottlenecks and ensure a smooth workflow.
6. Team Capacity and Story Points (Optional):
Assign story points to represent the effort required for each task.
This helps with capacity planning and identifying potential overallocation.
7. Sharing and Collaboration:
Share your plan with stakeholders for clear communication and project transparency.
Team members can collaborate on the plan by adjusting tasks and dependencies.
8. Remember:
Changes made in Advanced Roadmap primarily affect the plan view, not the original Jira issues.
You need to confirm changes within Advanced Roadmap to update the actual issue details.
