Estimate app data residency migration downtime
App data residency enables organizations to exercise control over data by migrating and pinning it to geographical locations. Atlassian products and Marketplace apps built on Connect now support these capabilities, which help teams comply with industry regulations and regional legislation.
Migrating app data to dedicated pinned regions requires planned downtime. To help organizations optimize this planned downtime we are delivering a downtime estimation tool.
Downtime estimation is now available
We’re excited to launch downtime estimation for app data residency migrations. This solution approximates the duration of app data residency migrations so organizations can optimize operations during planned downtimes.
Previously, downtime windows were set to 24 hours by default for Marketplace Partners. Now, app developers can report the target time for app data residency migrations, ranging from a minimum of half an hour up to 24 hours.
When Marketplace Partners activate this feature, the amount of downtime required will correspond to the longest wait time, ensuring all apps complete data residency migrations within the defined window. Find out which Marketplace apps have made it available by navigating to the Admin Hub, opening the Security tab, and navigating to the Data Residency section.
The downtime to migrate this specific Jira app is estimated to be 1 hour.
Downtime reduction is coming soon
In our effort to improve app data residency migrations, we will soon introduce downtime reduction to decrease the default duration of app data residency migration downtime from 24 hours to two hours. This capability will diminish the impact of migration downtimes while improving productivity. Follow along for more information to come!
