Trello email automation

Pninit Rozenberg September 17, 2024

Hi
I've created a few automated emails, and I'd love some assistance:
1. How can I send emails to specific members in one rule? commas don't work as separators
2. Is there a way to exclude the member who performed the action from the email?
for example - If I moved a card to "In Progress" I'd like everyone but me to get the email notification.  how can I do that? currently, everyone on the card are getting all the emails.

Thanks!

Hi Pninit, welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You can separate email addresses using semicolons (;). While there isn't a direct method to send the email to all board members but you, the best approach would be to add their email addresses to the rule.

Thanks Carolina
It will be harder to do so on a card level though.
I'd like to send automated email reminders/notifications based on the card activity, but to exclude the person who made the action. Which differentiate.
Are there any variables I can use as email recipients? or exclusion rules?

Thanks,
Pninit

Hi Pninit!

I'm afraid there isn't a way to exclude recipients from the email. If the person who made the action is always part of the card in your workflow, you can create a rule like this as a workaround:

when a card is added to list "To do", remove member @{username} from the card, send an email notification to every member on the card with subject "Test" and message "Test", and add member @{username} to the card

However, if there are situations when the person making the action isn't part of the card, this rule will add them anyway.

I know how this feature would be helpful, so I created a suggestion with our product team which you can access here:
TRELLO-673

I would also recommend you to visit that suggestion, log in with your Atlassian account, and click Start watching this issue on the right panel. This will help our product and engineering team understand more about which functionalities our users are interested in. Also, when the ticket is updated by our product team, you'll be notified via email.
